Juctice project
Project DEFENSE
My project was planting trees to try and repare the damage that was caused by the recent fires in Durango. I worked with Patrick Thorton and Sean Madden. We customized tee shirts to help raise money so we could buy the trees we needed. We also partnered up with other groups that are making tee shirts and sticker to make a instagram account and a website so we can advertise our products. We are planning on planting the trees as soon as all of the snow in Durango starts to melt and it as soon as it starts to get warmer so the trees have a higher chance of growing into adult trees. If we are unable to plant the trees we will donate the money to the Arbor Day Foundation who have planned hundreds of millions of trees and are currently planting one tree for every dollar donated. They have recently pared up with a popular youtuber named Mr.beast who made a website called Teamtrees.org and together they have planted a little over 22 million trees.
I was in charge of coming up with a plan of how to sell and distribute the tee shirts and make sure they got to the customer without any problems. This project really let me bring my personal philosophy into a actually physical project that will be around for many many years. I have always tried my best to be a nature cautious as possible but I have never really done any sort of contribution. We will always be surrounded by nature so its very important to protect it and try and fix the things that we have destroyed. Trees are critical to the survival of not only humans but every living thing on the earth so we need to do our best to protect them and replant the ones that we have cut down.
This project was a good way to bring justice to this because there isn't a whole lot three eighteen year olds can do in a small town during a pandemic so we though of a way to rebuild some of nature and bring awareness to the destruction of our forests. Because we want to protect our forest we started to notice some of the other injustices that are happing in our deserts, mountains, and every other type of nature. We noticed the large amount of oil drilling in the deserts and oceans, the outrageous amount of trash in the oceans that are killing millions of marine life a year and killing the coral reefs which are the homes to tons of different species of marine life. We noticed the deforestation across the Untied States and the destruction of wildlife habitat.
We did a lot of research to find the best type of soil to plant trees in and the best type of weather to plant them in. We researched different organizations that plant trees and try to preserve nature. There aren't any "anti tree planting" groups that we are aware of so we haven't had to worry about people trying to stop us. The only people we are concern about are the people that dont think global warming isn't real because if there was a large amount of CO2 releced around the sapling it can harm them and they won't grow to there full potential and they can possibly die.

Project reflection
We succeeded because we made tee shirts are waiting for sales to make the money to either buy trees to plant or to donate. So far we have yet to sell our tee shirts but we are hoping for some sales soon, as soon as we have the money for the trees we will buy them and if we run into any trouble we will donate all of the money we have made. I showed up to every meeting we have had as a group so far and have done all of the work that has been assigned to me, as a group we all critiqued each others work to make sure it was the best it could possible be. One of the major things that I learned during this was how horrible we have treated our planet and everything that lives on it. I have always been aware of the issues that have been going on but this project really let me focus on it a realize that we need to start fixing it now before it gets unfixable. I also learned that a single mature tree can absorb 48 punts of C02 a year and release enough oxogen to support two humans a year and a tree with a 18ich diameter at its base produces around 6,000 pounds of oxogen a year. This made me realize how important trees are and how critical they are to life on earth.
