mini trebuchets
For this project we were asked to make mini trebuchets and explain the forces that are going on. We also had to pick a style of trebuchet to design it after, I was partners with kian and we picked ancient china. We spent a few days making the trebuchets and testing them out to see if they worked and what we should improve. After the testing period we presented them to the class.
Rube goldberg
In our Rube goldberg we used a pulley in for the very first step. We used a pulley when the hot wheels car went down a ramp into a cup that was attached to a pulley system. We also used a screw. We used a screw when we had a marble go down a tube system that went into the final steps. In this project we had to find the potential and kinetic energy. We were given two problems the one said “To start your Rube goldberg you drop a 7.0 gram steel ball 50cm into a tiny bucket on a pulley. Calculate the potential energy for the beginning step.” the answer that I got for this was 0.031435 jules. The next one that I got was “When your steel ball lands in the tiny bucket it has a velocity of 45cm/s. Calculate the kinetic energy”. The answer that I got was 0.0070875 jules. Before I started this project I know that I was going to have to grow as a learner and a student. One of the skill that I will need to improve on is initiative, I need to improve on this because I have never been very good at doing things right when I am supposed to do them so then I wouldnt have that much time to refine my projects. The area that I was good at was effective communication, I was good at this because when we were stuck on things we could all talk together and find a way to fix it. This was a very fun project to build one of the ways that made it fun for us to make was to try and have it be the most visually appealing.
